Manufacturing Process Engineer

Yearly Salary Range: $98,000 - $115,000

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications and business needs.

• Direct work experience in Electronics Contract Manufacturing in PCBA / SMT

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality products. This role will also focus on developing MPIs for NPI builds, conducting DFM analysis, and supporting PCA/SMT manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the VMSI engineering team and cross-functional groups to ensure smooth new product introduction, robust process readiness, and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) for new product builds in alignment with VMSI requirements.
• Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) analyses and provide recommendations to VMSI engineering and customer teams.
• Support NPI builds by defining process flow, ensuring tooling/stencil readiness, and validating process capability.
• Support and optimize SMT, wave soldering, and selective wave soldering processes
• Respond to PCA/SMT assembly process-related issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with VMSI engineering to review ECOs, BOMs, and process changes, ensuring accurate implementation at the Malaysia site.
• Participate in root cause analysis, CAPA activities, and yield improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow charts, and SOPs.
• Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements in process development and execution.
• Stay updated with latest SMT/PCA manufacturing technologies and best practices, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Provide technical support for FAI builds, customer audits, and internal process reviews.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PCA/SMT process engineering, preferably in contract manufacturing or EMS.
• Hands-on experience in NPI builds, MPI creation, stencil design, SMT process setup, and reflow profiling.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFT principles and ability to generate detailed reports and recommendations.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and ISO 9001 quality systems.
• IPC-A-610 Certified IPC– required.
• IPC-7711/21 (Rework, Repair and Modification) certification – preferred.
• Knowledge of J-STD-001 soldering/assembly requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with remote teams (VMSI engineering) and provide timely technical support.
