This position serves as a key link between Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, and suppliers, translating engineering requirements into practical manufacturing processes and ensuring that production activities are properly planned and documented within the company's ERP/MRP system.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing process plans and production routings based on engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and established manufacturing methods.
  • Review and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements to determine appropriate manufacturing operations and requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain work instructions, manufacturing documentation, process specifications, and other technical documentation required by production.
  • Coordinate with Production to resolve routing, process, material, documentation, and scheduling issues that may affect manufacturing.
  • Support Procurement and Purchasing by identifying material, outside processing, supplier, and other requirements associated with manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and outside service providers as necessary to support production requirements and ensure specifications are understood and met.
  • Work closely with Engineering to evaluate manufacturability, clarify technical requirements, and implement engineering changes into manufacturing processes.
  • Support Quality in maintaining compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, process optimization, waste reduction, and increased manufacturing efficiency.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and routing requirements to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, unnecessary operations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with estimating labor and manufacturing requirements and provide input regarding process costs and production feasibility.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects involving Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing, production planning, process planning, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Epicor.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes and determine logical sequences of operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, and external suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate manufacturing records and documentation.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Physical & Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office and manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with production personnel, engineering, quality, procurement, and other departments. The employee may be required to spend time on the manufacturing floor to observe processes, review work, troubleshoot issues, and verify routing and process requirements.

Success in This Role:

Success in the Manufacturing Process Planner position is demonstrated by accurate and efficient manufacturing routings, clear and usable production documentation, timely coordination of materials and outside services, effective support of production, accurate ERP information, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, quality, and cost.
