Manufacturing Supervisor

Objectives and scope of the job

Oversee the daily operations of a manufacturing department or production team. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of production workers to ensure efficient and safe production processes. Monitors workflow, resolves issues, and implements improvements to achieve production targets and quality standards. Organizes, schedules and monitors workflow and resources. Promote culture of quality and continuous improvement in all aspects of the production process.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Main tasks

• Responsible for the creation, prioritization, scheduling, distribution, execution, documentation. closure and analysis of work orders
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Implement production plans and adjust as necessary to meet changing demands and priorities.
• Forecasting the production needs based on historical data.
• Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to production schedules.
• Monitors the production rates, reviews inventory levels and coordinates with planner/supply chain to make sure the required materials or parts are available for production.
• Monitoring and adjusting schedules as needed to meet product delivery deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Managing material resources and inventories to ensure smooth production flow: Assure inventory accuracy by monitoring inventory transactions and inventory reconciliation.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure optimal operation.
• Collaborating with other departments like asset management, supply chain and operations to align with production plans, to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
• Communicate material or production issues that the affect the ability to meet the current production schedule.
• Aid in the implementation of engineering change orders (ECO’s)
• Provide hands-on leadership for production personnel.
• Fosters cooperation within and between department to meet cost, quality, and quantity requirements.
• Works on assignments that are routine in nature where some judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations
• Prepare and analyze production reports to track progress, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Document production activities, including production counts, downtime, and quality records.
• Support the Quality System and Quality Policy by following procedures and work instructions and creating records to meet the requirements of Quality Management System and ISO registration.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Leads in improvement projects and drives productivity in his/her area of coverage or be as Project Lead of Production Team.
• Coordinate and lead the team in the absence of Manufacturing Section Manager until appointed.

Basic Education

• Diploma/Degree in any discipline.
• Diploma/Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.

Further Education

• Basic computer skills for data entry and electronic documentation.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and data interpretation skills.

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience as an operator, senior operator, or team leader in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, or Line Leader. Experience managing a production team or shift.

Language Skills

• Good oral and written communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia.
• Basic to intermediate English reading and comprehension skills to understand work instructions, SOPs, safety notices, equipment manuals, and technical documents.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Understand production processes, SOPs, work instructions, safety requirements, and basic troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, or other continuous improvement practices. Experience with MES, SAP/ERP, and Microsoft Excel for production reports and data analysis.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift and handle heavy objects.
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment involving prolonged standing, shift work, and varying operational conditions.

• Strong attention to detail. Good communication skills and ability to guide others. Problem-solving mindset. Able to work with engineers, supervisors, and supporting departments.

• Experience in manpower planning, shift management, performance monitoring, KPI management, training, and employee development.
• Experience in root-cause analysis, CAPA, 8D, PDCA, or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Adaptable, resilient, improvement-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
