What they need

Manufacturing Technician

Highway Machine Co. is looking for a dependable Manufacturing Technician to join our Princeton, Indiana manufacturing team. This position is focused on P&H operations, supporting the production, finishing, material handling, and preparation of large, custom-manufactured gears and components.

You’ll work alongside experienced manufacturing employees to prepare, finish, move, and package large components throughout the production process. This is an opportunity to work in a custom job shop environment where projects vary and attention to quality, safety, and detail is important.

Why Join HMC?

HMC is a family-owned company that has been in business since 1921. For more than 100 years, we have built our reputation on precision manufacturing, quality workmanship, and strong customer relationships. We are a stable employer that values our employees and provides opportunities to build a long-term career.

At HMC, you’ll work with large-scale custom components rather than repetitive high-volume production. You’ll gain hands-on experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and equipment while working closely with experienced production, engineering, and quality teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform P&H operations including part finishing, preparation, and other production support activities
  • Perform finishing processes such as deburring, sandblasting, shot peening, and painting
  • Load, unload, and move large components and materials using forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Prepare and package completed parts for shipment
  • Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and engineering specifications
  • Maintain material flow between departments and production areas
  • Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance or equipment issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to support production
  • Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned based on business needs

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work safely around large equipment and components
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, and written instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable work ethic and willingness to learn new processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred, but not required:

  • Manufacturing or industrial experience
  • Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes
  • Experience with sandblasting, shot peening, painting, or other finishing processes
  • Experience working with large components or heavy industrial equipment

Work Environment

Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moderate to high noise levels, temperature fluctuations, airborne particles, and large industrial components.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including bending, reaching, lifting, and handling materials
  • Ability to safely work around and handle large components and materials

Benefits Include

  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Health and vision insurance
  • Company-paid dental insurance
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with company match
  • Optional wellness benefits
