What they need

Marine Administrator | Bluff

Join South Port and support the operation of New Zealand's southernmost commercial port.

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Marine Administrator to join our Marine team. This is a permanent, full-time, office-based role working Monday to Friday, with the occasional evening or weekend overtime providing administration back-up for our marine services team.

This is an interesting and varied position that plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our Marine Department. You'll work closely with the team, providing essential administrative support, managing information and reporting, and contributing to the smooth running of our growing marine operations.

If you enjoy working with technology, systems and information, and you're keen to continue developing your skills in a busy operational environment, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As Marine Administrator, you’ll provide administrative, reporting and systems support for our range of marine operations.  No two days are quite the same, and you'll be involved in a broad range of activities including:

  • Producing regular and ad hoc reports
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Managing data and information across a range of systems
  • Supporting compliance, certification and audit requirements
  • Assisting with fleet administration and asset management processes
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and efficiencies
  • Providing administrative support for South Port's growing cruise operations

You'll receive training in our specialist marine systems and processes, including fleet management software used for inventory, asset management, certification and compliance activities.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Highly confident with technology and enjoys working with systems, information and data
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, along with Word and Outlook
  • Quick to learn new software and business systems
  • Analytical and comfortable producing reports and interpreting information
  • Well organised, with excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • A clear communicator who builds positive working relationships
  • Calm, accurate and reliable when managing competing priorities
  • Motivated, positive and committed to being part of a high-performing team

Previous administrative experience is preferred; however, we are equally interested in candidates who are computer savvy, demonstrate strong technical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to quickly master new systems and processes.

Why South Port?

At South Port you'll be part of a close-knit team working in a unique operational environment. We offer:

·         A stable, permanent role with a great employer!

·         Hands-on exposure to marine, fleet and port operations

·         Training in specialist marine systems, with support to keep developing your skills

·         A practical, close-knit team environment where people work together

If you're looking for a role that combines administration, technology, reporting and operational support, we'd love to hear from you- apply now!

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Safety is our priority. The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and drug and alcohol testing.
  • A full driver's licence and reliable transport are essential.
  • Applicants must hold legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
