What they need
This is a full-time position, generally Monday to Friday, with some weekend and ad hoc program delivery required.
This is not solely an education delivery role. It is a commercially focused position combining marine education, sales, customer engagement and program development.
Reporting directly to the Senior Account Manager, and working closely with the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in growing Sunlover’s education business while ensuring our marine education programs remain engaging, relevant and operationally strong.
The role offers a varied mix of:
- Sales and business development – prospecting, building relationships with schools and education partners, responding to enquiries and converting opportunities into bookings
- Account and customer engagement – working directly with teachers, education agents and industry partners from initial enquiry through to program delivery
- Program coordination – managing bookings, schedules, school communication and internal operational requirements
- Marine education delivery – leading engaging programs at Moore Reef, Fitzroy Island and within the community
- Program and content development – continually strengthening Sunlover’s educational offering and alignment with the Australian Curriculum
What you’ll be doing
- Proactively identify and develop new education business opportunities
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of schools, education agents and industry partners
- Follow up enquiries and opportunities with a strong focus on conversion and repeat business
- Attend B2B meetings, trade engagements and industry events to present and promote Sunlover’s education programs
- Work closely with the Sales team to manage education enquiries, proposals and bookings
- Lead communication between Sales, Education and Operations to ensure programs are delivered effectively
- Build long-term relationships with teachers, schools and education partners
- Deliver engaging marine education experiences on land, at sea and within the community
- Maintain and enhance the quality of educational interpretation across Sunlover products
- Support the recruitment, training and development of team members involved in educational interpretation
- Develop educational resources and content relating to the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island and marine conservation
- Align activities and educational content with the Australian Curriculum
- Lead student engagement, presentations and public-speaking activities
- Maintain and develop education-specific risk assessments
- Lead Sunlover’s environmental education credentials, initiatives and associated deliverables
- Contribute to, or lead specialised projects, partnerships and relevant grant submissions
About you
We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable presenting to a classroom, talking reef ecology on a pontoon and sitting across the table from a potential business partner.
You will have:
- A qualification in Marine Biology or a closely related field
- Full working rights in Australia
- Strong sales, relationship-building and customer engagement skills
- Confidence prospecting for new business and converting opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence presenting to groups and conducting one-to-one business meetings
- Strong administration, organisation and follow-up skills
- Knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef, marine ecosystems and Fitzroy Island
- The ability to interpret scientific information and translate it into engaging educational content
- An understanding of the Australian Curriculum and the ability to align programs and activities accordingly
- A current Blue Card
- Current First Aid qualifications
Experience within tourism, education, environmental interpretation, sales or business development will be highly regarded.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to combine their passion for marine science and education with a genuinely commercial role, helping grow participation in Great Barrier Reef education while building strong relationships with schools and industry partners.
