Marine Electronics Technician

South Wharf Yacht Yard, a premier full-service marina and boatyard located in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced Marine Electronics Technician to join our service team.

As an authorized dealer for Navico, Simrad, B&G, and Raymarine, South Wharf provides professional marine electronics installation, troubleshooting, repair, and system upgrades for a wide range of power and sailboats.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in quality workmanship and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission marine navigation, communication, and electronic systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair existing marine electronics and associated electrical systems.
• Perform software updates, system upgrades, and equipment integrations.
• Install and service GPS/chartplotters, radar, sonar, autopilots, VHF radios, and other onboard electronics.
• Communicate directly with manufacturers for technical support and warranty assistance.
• Work closely with the service department to coordinate installations and repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Travel locally to customer vessels when necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on marine electronics installation and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of major marine electronics brands, including Simrad, B&G, Raymarine, and Garmin.
• Experience with marine electrical systems, wiring, networking, and equipment integration.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a professional service team.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Manufacturer certifications and ABYC certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, access confined spaces aboard vessels, and perform the physical duties associated with marine electronics installation.
