Marine Engine Driver 1

About the role

Working as part of a professional vessel crew, the MED1 will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and monitoring of the vessel's machinery and engineering systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operating and monitoring the Yanmar 1,370 kW main engine, generators and associated machinery
• Carrying out routine engine room inspections and machinery checks
• Performing preventative maintenance and general mechanical repairs
• Identifying and reporting mechanical issues and equipment faults
• Maintaining accurate engine room logs and records
• Assisting with repairs and maintenance throughout the vessel
• Supporting fishing operations and ensuring machinery is ready for use
• Assisting with vessel unloads and general operational duties when required
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised engine room
• Complying with all vessel safety, environmental and operational procedures
• Working closely with the Skipper and deck crew to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations

About you

• Qualified as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 (MED1)
• Experienced in commercial marine operations, preferably on fishing vessels
• Reliable, practical and mechanically minded
• Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of marine engineering procedures
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a close-knit crew
• Professional, hardworking and willing to assist across vessel operations
• Able to work away from home for multi-day fishing trips
