Marine Engineer

About the role

Responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the vessel's main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, piping systems, and other mechanical equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of company vessels supporting cement manufacturing, bulk cement transportation, and inter-island shipping operations. The position ensures compliance with company policies, vessel safety procedures, environmental regulations, and applicable maritime standards while minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, generators, boilers, pumps, compressors, and other engine-room machinery
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure vessel reliability and minimize operational disruptions
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues and implement appropriate corrective actions
• Monitor fuel consumption, lubricating oil levels, cooling systems, and engine performance to support cost-effective vessel operations
• Ensure the proper functioning of equipment used in bulk cement transportation, including cargo-handling support machinery, hydraulic systems, and associated equipment
• Maintain engine-room logs, maintenance records, machinery performance reports, spare parts inventories, and other required technical documentation
• Coordinate with the Master, Chief Engineer, deck officers, and shore-based technical personnel regarding vessel maintenance, repairs, and operational requirements
• Assist in vessel inspections, dry-docking activities, machinery overhauls, and technical assessments
• Ensure that critical spare parts, tools, lubricants, and maintenance supplies are available and properly accounted for
• Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and emergencies to maintain vessel safety and operational continuity

About you

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering or an equivalent recognized maritime engineering program
• Valid Marine Engineer Officer license appropriate to the position and vessel requirements
• Valid STCW training certificates applicable to the assigned duties
• Valid Seafarer's Identification and Record Book (SIRB/SRB) and other required seafarer documents
• Basic Safety Training and other mandatory maritime certifications, as applicable
• Preferably with at least 2–5 years of experience in marine engineering or engine-room operations
• Experience in engine maintenance, machinery troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and vessel technical operations
• Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and equipment reliability
• Ability to work under pressure, respond to emergencies, and work effectively as part of a team
