Marine Operator

Job Purpose:

The Marine Operator (Remote Mumbai) is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Rotterdam-based operations teams. The primary objective of this role is to ensure continuity, consistency, and high-quality service delivery by acting as an operational backbone for the local Operations Manager and Operations Teamlead in Rotterdam.

This role plays a key part in further professionalizing operational support processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring structured follow-up on operational, administrative, and financial workflows related to port calls in the Port of Rotterdam.

The position reports functionally to the Operations Manager Netherlands and works closely with the Operations Teamlead and Marine Operators in Rotterdam.

While this is a coordination and support role, it remains hands-on and operationally focused, ensuring close alignment with daily marine operations and real-time client and vessel requirements.

Role & responsibilities

• Coordinate remotely with customers, shipping companies, principals, and internal stakeholders in Rotterdam
• Prepare, review, and manage operational documentation and correspondence related to vessel calls
• Support and monitor daily marine operations and port-related activities
• Ensure accurate operational and administrative follow-up, including document control and data integrity
• Review, check, and validate supplier, port, and service provider invoices
• Prepare and issue pro-forma invoices in line with internal procedures
• Liaise with port agents, shipping agencies, and service providers on behalf of the Rotterdam operations team
• Maintain structured, timely, and professional communication with ship masters, suppliers, shipping companies, and other operational partners
• Provide regular updates and clear reporting to Rotterdam-based Marine Operators and management.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8-9 years of experience in marine operations, shipping, port agency, or vessel operations support.
• Practical knowledge of shipping documentation and port operational processes.
• Experience supporting international or remote operations teams is preferred.
• Have a solid background in marine operations, shipping, or port agency support.
• Are detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple operational tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Client-oriented and confident in professional communication with international stakeholders.
• Are structured, reliable, and able to work independently while collaborating closely with a remote team.
• Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
• Experience working with shipping documentation and operational processes.
• Willingness to work in alignment with European (Rotterdam) business hours as required.
