Job Summary

Kettle Marine is seeking a skilled and reliable Full-Time Marine Technician to join our onsite service team. This role is responsible for performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of boats and marine engines. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair outboard motors, inboard engines, electrical systems, and marine equipment
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, rigging, winterization, and de-winterization
• Inspect boats for mechanical issues, safety concerns, and performance problems
• Install accessories such as electronics, trolling motors, gauges, and steering systems
• Maintain accurate service records, repair notes, and parts usage
• Communicate clearly with the Service Manager regarding repair timelines and required parts
• Operate and move boats safely within the yard and service area
• Follow all safety procedures, shop standards, and manufacturer guidelines
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with boat owners
• Assist with general shop duties, inventory organization, and cleanliness

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Marine Technician, Mechanic, or similar mechanical role
• Strong knowledge of outboard engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, etc.)
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using tools and diagnostic equipment
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a hands-on shop environment
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturer certifications (Mercury, Yamaha, BRP, etc.)
• Experience with fiberglass repair, rigging, or marine electronics
• Familiarity with dealership service operations

Work Environment

• Onsite role at our Jackson, Wisconsin dealership
• Indoor and outdoor shop setting
• Fast-paced, customer-focused service department
• Frequent use of tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting/moving boats

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday
• Seasonal overtime may be available during peak boating months
