About Fishline and the Position

Fishline is a North Kitsap nonprofit based in Poulsbo, WA, that provides food and access to resources designed to offer stability, improve health and well-being, and guide individuals toward a path of self-sustainability. The Market Associate supports the Market Manager in performing daily operations related to Fishline’s food bank and warehouse. This role involves working directly with volunteers, clients, and donors to ensure the Market runs smoothly, safely, and in alignment with Fishline’s mission and values.

Role and Responsibilities

Food Bank (Market) Operations

· Receive, sort, weigh, and stock donated food from grocery rescue, food drives, and partner organizations

· Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Market environment

· Assist clients with shopping, check-in/check-out processes, and general navigation of services

· Support and guide volunteers in daily tasks

· Follow and uphold all food safety and workplace safety protocols

· Assist with inventory tracking, including stock rotation and organization

General Duties

· Serve as a respectful liaison between staff, volunteers, clients, and partners

· Assist with loading and unloading food and supplies

· Maintain accurate inventory and distribution records

· Support food drives, events, and additional programs

· Perform other duties as assigned

Future Responsibilities: Mobile Market Operations

· Prepare and stock the Mobile Market vehicle with food and supplies

· Track inventory before and after distributions

· Drive the Mobile Market vehicle to off-site locations

· Set up and break down Mobile Market sites

· Distribute food in a respectful, inclusive manner

· Support volunteers at Mobile Market sites

• Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual or multilingual (preferred).
• Experience in a food bank or similar environment (preferred).
• Food Handler’s Certification (preferred).
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Schedule

This position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday. There may be times when needs of the department require staff to be flexible and adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the organization. Any request to adjust said schedule will be made as soon in advance as possible in order for employees to plan their schedule accordingly.
