What they need

Overview of the Position

SFLA is seeking to hire a mission-driven and detail-oriented Marketing Content Writer to join our newly formed Marketing Writing Team under the Marketing Department. Each staff writer will specialize in a specific content area(s) and work closely with the corresponding department to produce high-quality, on-brand written materials. The writer will report to the writing manager and will take full ownership of their content, including final sign-off and accountability for accuracy, tone, and timeliness

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Collaboration

  • Write and edit content tailored to a specific department or initiative (e.g., Programs, Development, Marketing, Policy).

  • Collaborate closely with assigned teams to understand messaging goals, campaign timelines, and audience needs.

  • Attend relevant team meetings to stay informed and align with departmental priorities.

  • Update and maintain website content, including copy, pages, and basic edits within WordPress, as needed.

Editorial Ownership

  • Take full responsibility for the quality and completion of assigned content.

  • Sign off on final drafts, confirming readiness for publication or distribution.

  • Ensure all content aligns with SFLA’s Lexicon, Style Guide, and brand voice.

  • Proficiency in receiving direct and constructive feedback from executive staff and department heads.

Content Types May Include

  • Emails, texts, and newsletters

  • Website and landing page copy

  • Fundraising and development materials

  • Training resources, reports, and Op-Eds

  • Video scripts, blog posts, and social media copy

AI & Workflow Integration

  • Create initial drafts using Copilot, leveraging its capabilities to accelerate content development by pulling from SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, organization websites and other content, as trained by the writing manager.

  • Conduct an editing pass through Copilot to ensure the work is accurate and aligned with the organization’s Lexicon and Style Guide.

  • Remain responsible for the final product, regardless of AI assistance. Copilot is a support tool, not a substitute for ownership or accountability.

  • Manage tasks and deadlines through Asana or other project management tools.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of grammar rules, including the Oxford comma

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills

  • Experience in marketing, communications, or legislative affairs a plus

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tasks and environments

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • 2+ years of professional writing experience, preferably in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to grammar, clarity, and tone

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms (e.g., Asana)

  • Experience with and willingness to learn and apply AI tools in the writing process

  • Experience in CoPilot AI Systems preferred, or the ability to adapt to further AI training.

  • Ability to rapidly produce content and efficiently respond to edits and changes

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

  • Passion for the pro-life mission and alignment with the values of Students for Life

Who Are We Looking For

  • A positive attitude, good problem-solving skills, and a passion for serving in the pro-life field are a must.

  • Must be teachable to learn SFLA technologies and platforms.
