What they need
Marketing Manager — Permanent, Part-time
20 hours per week | Work from home | New Zealand
NZ$55–$60 per hour + performance-bonus opportunity
Auckland preferred; applicants throughout New Zealand welcome
Elta Ego is New Zealand’s best-selling and most awarded alcohol-free cocktails brand and is stocked in 450+ stores across New Zealand and 110+ in Australia, alongside our online business.
With an established position in New Zealand, strong growth in Australia and preparations underway for a US Amazon launch, there is plenty of opportunity to make an impact.
Our marketing lead is leaving to start her own business so we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Marketing Manager to take ownership of our overall marketing activity and help elta ego grow further.
This is a broad role for someone who enjoys both developing ideas and making them happen. You’ll work directly with the founder and collaborate with our small team, combining sound commercial judgement with creativity, initiative and efficient execution.
What you’ll own
Marketing planning, brand and budget
Own the marketing calendar, coordinate activity across channels and markets, and maintain a consistent brand. Manage the marketing budget, track expenditure and results, and recommend where to focus our time and resources.
Brand partnerships, sampling and events
Develop and manage relationships with complementary brands, such as wellness brands. Plan and coordinate sampling programmes, collaborations, event and sponsorship partnerships, and retail marketing opportunities. Our team handles in-person attendance; your focus is planning, coordination and making the activity effective.
Advertising and retail media
Develop and execute Meta advertising creative strategy, manage campaigns and improve performance through testing. Manage and optimise Google Ads as well as other marketing channels in collaboration with the founder.
Creative content and brand communications
Develop campaign concepts, copy and finished creative using AI and design tools such as Claude and Canva. Brief the content you need, work with supplied footage and imagery, and collaborate with our social media manager on coordinated organic content. Manage and use customer reviews through Loox to inform messaging and support relevant marketing.
Email, customer relationships and ecommerce
Plan and deliver Klaviyo campaigns and maintain automated customer journeys. Use Klaviyo and Shopify data to understand customer behaviour and improve targeting, messaging and retention. Identify opportunities to improve landing pages and the purchase experience, with technical website changes implemented by our team.
Affiliate and creator marketing
Develop and grow our affiliate programme and create briefs for UGC creators, with clear creative direction informed by customer needs, motivations and purchase barriers. Turn these relationships into useful content, product trial and measurable commercial outcomes.
Market development and growth opportunities
Work with the founder to assess new markets and channels, develop go-to-market plans and identify practical opportunities for profitable growth. Support our planned US Amazon launch, drawing on specialist advice and NZTE support.
This is broad ownership, not an expectation to launch every initiative at once. Each week, we will agree on the most valuable activities to prioritise within the available hours.
What you’ll bring
- You have experience delivering hands-on marketing for a consumer brand or ecommerce business
- You take ownership. You can turn a broad objective into a practical plan, make sensible commercial decisions and carry work through to completion independently and in collaboration with the founder.
- You work efficiently without compromising quality. You know when to refine an idea, when to test it and when to move on. You bring fresh thinking, learn quickly and adapt your approach when the evidence changes.
- You use AI meaningfully in your everyday workflow. You use it to accelerate research, planning, copy, creative production or analysis, while applying your own judgement to ensure the result is accurate, effective and on-brand. You are comfortable making and refining creative yourself—not only briefing other people.
- You understand the commercial picture. You consider customer behaviour, acquisition costs, margins and the return on our time and spending, rather than focusing only on attractive content or headline advertising numbers.
- Strong creative briefing, copywriting, campaign management and relationship-building skills are important. Experience with Meta advertising, email marketing and customer data will help you take ownership quickly.
Valuable but optional additional experience:
- Experience developing affiliate programmes; growing brands in Australia or the US; Amazon launches or advertising; search engine optimisation and visibility in AI-generated answers; ecommerce conversion improvements; or PR, media outreach and product seeding.
- You do not need experience in every platform or channel. Strong underlying skills and the ability to learn quickly matter.
The support around you
You will have direct access to the founder and a weekly meeting about priorities, progress and the support you need.
The founder helps with strategy and technical implementation, while our team and creators supply original photography and footage. You will direct and brief the content required; you do not need to film, photograph products or appear on camera yourself.
We also draw on NZTE support for international growth and market development, and can bring in specialist freelancers where needed so you're not expected to be an expert in every discipline.
How we work
- This is a permanent, part-time position with 20 paid hours per week, working from home anywhere in New Zealand. Auckland is preferred, but not required.
- Hours should ideally be spread across at least four weekdays, with flexibility to arrange your schedule around your life.
- We meet weekly on Google Meet and stay connected through phone and video calls and occasional in-person meetings.
Why join Elta Ego?
- Opportunity to shape and grow a creative brand in the fast-moving alcohol-free drinks industry with an established product range, growing Australian sales and a new market on the horizon—all in a working arrangement designed to fit alongside life outside work.
- The role offers variety and the opportunity to develop your skills across brand building, customer marketing, partnerships and international growth.
- Work remotely with the opportunity to grow salary and role as our brand expands internationally
- Join a small, purpose-driven team that values wellness, creativity, and innovation.
The base rate is NZ$55–$60 per hour with a performance-bonus scheme, depending on experience and demonstrated capability, plus employer KiwiSaver contributions.
