Mary's Duty Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and people-focused Duty Manager to join the Front of House team across venues at Mary’s and Craggy Range Restaurant.

As a Duty Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, working alongside our senior management team to lead exceptional service, support and develop our team, and ensure every guest leaves with a lasting impression of their experience.

The role

Working alongside ourMary’s Front of House Managerand close-knit Mary’s team, you will help lead the restaurant through busy services while maintaining the high standards of hospitality both venues are known for.

You will be responsible for supporting the team on the floor, leading by example and creating an environment where both our guests and our people feel genuinely looked after. You will work across five evenings per week. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and supporting the Front of House team during service.

• Maintaining exceptional standards of food, wine and beverage service.

• Managing the guest experience and confidently resolving any concerns that arise.

• Supporting the team to achieve sales and service goals through genuine, knowledgeable hospitality.

• Managing restaurant sections, table allocations, reservations and service flow.

• Working closely with the kitchen, wine and reservations teams to ensure seamless communication.

• Assisting with opening and closing procedures, cash handling and daily operational requirements.

• Ensuring licensing, health and safety, and restaurant procedures are followed.

• Supporting stock management and other operational responsibilities as required.

• Creating a positive, professional and enjoyable working environment for the team.

About you

You will already have strong Front of House experience and be ready to take greater responsibility within a premium hospitality environment.

You will be confident leading people, comfortable making decisions during busy services and, above all, genuinely passionate about hospitality.

You will bring a natural ability to connect with guests and your team, an interest in food and wine, strong attention to detail and a desire to continue learning and developing as a hospitality leader.

A current New Zealand Duty Manager’s Certificate would be advantageous.
