Mason — Requirements

Must have hands-on experience with:

• Building and rebuilding front stoops, porches and steps
• Concrete block construction, including CMU walls, steps and foundations
• Installing brick and natural stone
• Installing thin stone veneer and cultured stone
• Stucco application on foundations, walls, porch risers and sides
• Installing bluestone, limestone and other natural-stone treads
• Building stone veneer fireplaces and fireplace surrounds
• Building retaining walls
• Paver patios, walkways and sidewalks
• Proper preparation and installation of concrete patios, sidewalks and driveways
• Setting and installing masonry caps, coping and treads
• Removing and rebuilding deteriorated masonry
• Reading measurements and laying out projects accurately
• Understanding proper footings, drainage, base preparation, reinforcement and mortar installation
• Working with different masonry materials and being able to produce a clean, professional finish
• Ability to work independently and lead a project or small crew when needed
• Ability to troubleshoot job-site conditions and make sound construction decisions
• Must maintain a clean, safe and organized job site
• Must be reliable, punctual and take pride in workmanship
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Must be physically capable of lifting and handling masonry materials

Strongly preferred:

• 5+ years of masonry experience
• Experience with hardscape installation
• Experience with Cambridge, Techo-Bloc or similar paver/wall systems
• Experience with aluminum handrail installation
• Experience working on residential remodeling and new construction
• Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners
• Ability to train and work with less-experienced masons/laborers

Pay: $28.80 - $34.68 per hour
