Position Overview

Varsity Brands is building a new enterprise data platform and Master Data Management (MDM) capability from the ground up. We are seeking experienced MDM Solution Architects who can design and implement a custom, warehouse-native MDM solution supporting customer and product master data.

This is not a traditional MDM tool configuration role. The ideal candidate has built MDM frameworks from first principles and can design entity models, identity resolution strategies, match/merge logic, survivorship rules, golden records, and reversible merge processes without relying on platforms such as Informatica, Reltio, Profisee, or similar products.

You will operate as both a strategic architect and hands-on technical leader, partnering with data engineers to build scalable data models, SQL-based business logic, and governance frameworks within a modern cloud data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design enterprise MDM architecture for customer, party, person, and product master data domains.
• Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including entity relationships, hierarchies, and identity frameworks.
• Design and implement identity resolution strategies for large-scale consumer datasets where deterministic identifiers may not exist.
• Develop custom match, merge, deduplication, survivorship, and golden record methodologies.
• Define attribute-level survivorship rules and confidence scoring frameworks.
• Design reversible merge/unmerge logic and source system traceability.
• Build warehouse-native MDM solutions using SQL, Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud data architectures.
• Establish data lineage, governance processes, stewardship workflows, reconciliation processes, and exception management frameworks.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable MDM solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to offshore engineering resources.
• Work with SAP and other enterprise source systems to integrate customer, vendor, product, and material master data.
• Drive data quality initiatives including profiling, cleansing, standardization, and governance controls.

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Solution Architect, Data Architect, MDM Architect, or Senior Technical Lead delivering enterprise MDM solutions.

• Deep understanding of:

• Strong expertise designing party, customer, person, and master data models from scratch.

• Hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL for complex data transformations, matching algorithms, merge logic, and business rules.

• Strong experience with Snowflake and modern data architecture patterns including:

• RAW / STAGED / CURATED

• Bronze / Silver / Gold

• Experience building custom MDM solutions rather than administering vendor MDM platforms.

• Strong data modeling expertise across:

• Entity Relationship Modeling

• Relational Modeling

• Dimensional Modeling

• Hierarchical Data Structures

• Experience with data quality, profiling, deduplication, reconciliation, and governance processes.

• Experience integrating SAP master data (Customer, Product, Material, Vendor, or Party data).

• Python or other data engineering experience supporting enterprise-scale data platforms.

Highly Desired Experience

Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with:

• Building client/customer master solutions across multiple source systems.
• Consumer-scale identity resolution involving millions of records.
• Probabilistic matching and confidence scoring techniques.
• Designing and implementing custom survivorship engines.
• Golden record creation and maintenance strategies.
• Reversible merge architectures.
• Warehouse-native MDM implementations using SQL and dbt.
• End-to-end ownership of MDM solution design and implementation.

What Will Make a Candidate Stand Out

The strongest candidates will be able to explain:

• How they designed entity and relationship models.
• How identity resolution was implemented.
• How match scoring and confidence scoring were calculated.

• How golden records were generated and maintained.

• The actual SQL and technical logic used to build the solution.

• Candidates whose experience primarily involves configuring Informatica, Reltio, Profisee, or similar MDM tools.
• Enterprise Architects with only high-level strategy experience.
• Governance-focused MDM professionals without implementation ownership.
• Candidates unable to explain underlying technical design decisions, data models, or SQL-based implementation logic.

Work Environment

• Fully remote within India.
• Standard working hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM IST.
• Flexibility required for occasional overlap with U.S.-based teams.

• Must be able to start within 15 days of offer acceptance.
• Compensation expectations should generally align within a 10-20% increase over current full-time compensation.
