Job Summary

We are seeking a Master Scheduler to join our growing manufacturing operations in San Antonio. This role will be responsible for creating and executing a master production schedule that balances customer demand, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity to ensure on time commitments. This position reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain and acts as the primary link between Customer Service, Production, Warehouse Operations, and Engineering. The right candidate will thrive in a fast paced, high mix / high volume environment, can work individually and in a team environment, be solutions oriented, detailed, and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency in their work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with Planning Team to translate backlog, order due dates, inventory requirements, routings, readiness and availability of labor/equipment capacity into a realistic finite-capacity schedule.

  • Create and maintain the detailed work-center schedules to be distributed to the Manufacturing team that will meet customer requirements.

  • Incorporate tooling, CNC programs, fixtures, inspection, engineering, quality and other readiness dependencies into schedule feasibility.

  • Oversee outside 3rd party processing requirements as it relates to schedule creation and attainment.

  • Monitor schedule adherence and adjust plans as required to meet changing business conditions. Escalate work order delay impacting customer commitments to Manufacturing leaders.

  • Establish and enforce schedule time fences and change-control rules so Manufacturing operates to one stable, visible priority sequence. Serve as the scheduling subject-matter expert and maintain clear decision rules that reduce informal expediting and priority conflicts.

  • Level-load work across qualified resources, identify future imbalances and recommend recovery actions such as resequencing, alternate resources, overtime, subcontracting or pull-ahead.

  • Rapid replan for shortages, rework, QC holds, equipment downtime, staffing constraints or inaccurate routing/standard data while minimizing downstream impact.

  • Coordinate with Planners, Buyers and Warehouse so material allocation, staging, receiving priorities and WIP movement support the published schedule.

  • Lead daily Production reviews with cross-functional stakeholders, identifying constraints, recovery actions, near-term priorities and decisions required.

  • Review ERP MRP recommendations with Planning team and take appropriate work order management actions.

  • Ensure master data integrity within ERP system including BOM maintenance, routing information, and planning / scheduling settings.

  • Review daily/weekly production output to identify/address gaps to achieving due dates.

  • Measure schedule attainment and causes of misses; use the data to improve planning parameters, lead times, resource calendars, routing standards and scheduling discipline.

  • Act as a liaison between Customer Service/Sales and the Manufacturing Plant, answering general questions, checking order status, and schedule changes needed.

Job Requirements

  • Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of production scheduling experience including:

    • Expert knowledge of master scheduling, finite-capacity scheduling, production control and work-center dispatching in manufacturing.
    • Demonstrated ability to schedule high-mix, high-volume work across variable routings, shared constraints, alternate resources and competing due dates.
    • Strong knowledge of MRP/MPS, BOMs, routings, operation sequencing, lead/queue times, work-center calendars, capacity planning and material readiness.
    • Working knowledge of lean flow, level loading, constraint management / Theory of Constraints and continuous improvement principles.
  • Advanced analytical and Excel skills; able to build capacity/scheduling models and turn imperfect data into clear priorities and recovery plans.

  • Strong judgment, communication and influencing skills; able to establish one production priority and challenge infeasible requests with data.

  • Excellent oral / written communication and listening skills. Interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships throughout the plant.

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • Desired Characteristics

  • Innovative spirit and commitment to delivering customer experience excellence.

  • Data-driven decision-making.

  • Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Can do attitude and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done right.

  • Highly organized with attention to detail, exceptional follow-through, and demonstrated accountability.
