What they need

At Masterlink, we’re looking for a Wellington based Regional Apprentice Manager to take the lead in growing and supporting our apprentices and host businesses across the Wellington and Lower North Island region.

We’re proud to grow the next generation of plumbers, gasfitters, and drainlayers. As part of Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ, we’re backed by a trusted national brand that’s been championing quality, professionalism, and training excellence in the industry for over 125 years.

What we do
Masterlink recruits, employs, and supports apprentices across Aotearoa, placing them with quality host businesses and supporting them every step of the way, from their first day on site through to becoming qualified tradespeople.

Ready to use your trade experience in a whole new way?
This is your chance to represent two respected brands making a real difference in New Zealand’s plumbing industry and to be part of something bigger.

If you’re looking for more than just a job and want to make a genuine difference while staying connected to the industry you love, this could be your next big move.

Who we’re looking for

You could be a qualified tradesperson ready to take the next career step, a plumbing business owner with a deep understanding of the trade, someone who’s worked closely with the industry, an experienced mentor passionate about helping businesses and young people succeed - you’ll bring strong relationship skills, business savvy, and genuine drive to make things happen.

**Location:**Wellington-based, with travel across the Lower North Island.

What you’ll be doing

  • Growing the host network: Supporting and growing an existing portfolio of host businesses, bringing on new hosts, and building long-term partnerships across the region.

  • Supporting apprentices: Being a trusted mentor, checking in regularly, supporting apprentice learning, and making sure every placement is a success.

  • Looking after hosts: Building genuine, value-adding partnerships. You’ll ensure hosts get the service, support, and results they expect from Masterlink and Master Plumbers. That means understanding their business, anticipating needs, and delivering solutions that make it easy for them to grow great people.

  • Representing the industry: Being a proud advocate for the PGD trades, apprenticeships, and high standards of professionalism.

What you’ll bring

  • A background in the plumbing or wider trades industry is preferred. You know the language, understand the industry challenges, and recognise the value of good people.

  • Sales and business development experience. You’re confident having commercial conversations with business owners, negotiating and influencing outcomes.

  • Excellent relationship management skills. Hosts, apprentices, industry bodies, and colleagues all trust and respect you for the value you provide.

  • Strong organisational and communication abilities. You can juggle multiple priorities, follow up swiftly, and keep things moving.

  • Experience helps but no one is the complete package - we can teach you the industry and the job, you need to bring the energy and enthusiasm to learn and make it happen.

Why join Masterlink?

  • Shape the future: Help build the next generation of PGD trades professionals and lift standards across the industry.

  • Work with purpose: See the impact of your efforts every day, from apprentice success stories to business growth.

  • **Be part of a trusted brand:**Masterlink has been connecting hosts and apprentices for 24 years, backed by Master Plumbers, celebrating 125 years of supporting the industry.

  • Enjoy variety and autonomy: No two days are the same, and you’ll have the freedom to get results your way.

Sound like you?
If you’re ready to combine your trade experience, people skills, and business mindset into a role that truly makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
