Material Handler

Role Summary

The Loader / Material Handler — known on the floor as the “water spider” — keeps the whole shop moving. Repair Technicians never leave their cell for a cart or a part; that's this role's job, and the shop's overall pace runs through it.

Key Responsibilities

• Unload inbound trailers at the dock and record trailer number, origin site, fill percentage, condition, and photos as part of yard check-in and dock inbound.
• Stage damaged carts to the repair cells so technicians always have a cart in front of them, and pull finished carts away as soon as they're done.
• Restock high-use parts (casters especially) at the cells; keep lower-use parts such as panels organized nearby.
• Nest carts for storage — never store carts built. Built storage violates the client's safety policy and takes about three times the space nested storage does.
• Load outbound trailers correctly: stage a full trailer's worth of carts, scan every one, submit the load form, and only then load. Never scan-and-load in small batches — missing one scan partway through means unloading and rescanning the entire trailer.
• Photograph every loaded outbound trailer with the trailer ID visible before it leaves. This is the record that protects the shop if there's ever a dispute about how a trailer was loaded.
• Keep the yard and dock moving — fast unload, immediate nesting, no trailers sitting idle.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Physical stamina — this is a moving, lifting, and pushing role all shift long.
• Dependability. The shop's pace depends on this role showing up and keeping carts flowing.
• Forklift experience is a plus, not a requirement.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Able to pass a drug test and a physical.

Tools & Equipment

Provided by the shop — material handling and dock equipment, plus a handheld device for inbound and outbound scanning.

Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
