Job Overview

MKJ Estate Sales is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated individual to join our team in a hands-on logistics and moving position.

We conduct estate sales throughout the Hattiesburg area and surrounding communities. Each sale requires equipment, supplies, furniture moving, and logistical coordination to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys physical work, can operate independently, has reliable transportation, and takes pride in getting the job done efficiently.

This position offers a flexible schedule, a negotiable hourly wage, and opportunities for additional compensation through furniture deliveries, applicable fuel surcharges, and customer tips.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Transportation & Sale Setup

• Pick up, transport, and deliver estate sale equipment and supplies between sale locations.
• Load, unload, and move folding tables, shelving, display fixtures, and other sale materials.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down estate sale locations.
• Organize and maintain equipment to ensure supplies are ready for upcoming sales.
• Coordinate with team members regarding equipment needs, pickup times, and delivery schedules.

Furniture Moving & Loading

• Assist customers with lifting, moving, and loading furniture and other large purchases during estate sales.
• Safely handle furniture, antiques, and fragile or valuable items.
• Help rearrange furniture and merchandise during sale preparation.
• Assist with moving heavy or oversized items as needed.

Furniture Pickup & Delivery

• Provide local furniture pickup and delivery services when requested.
• Safely load, secure, transport, and unload furniture at customer locations.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coordinate delivery arrangements.
• Receive additional compensation for qualifying deliveries, including applicable fuel surcharges and customer tips.

General Support

• Work alongside the MKJ Estate Sales team to keep sales organized and running efficiently.
• Assist with miscellaneous physical and logistical tasks as needed.
• Be available during designated sale weekends and for occasional weekday pickups, deliveries, and setup work.

Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Physically capable of regularly lifting, carrying, and moving furniture and equipment.
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Access to a pickup truck or suitable vehicle for transporting equipment and furniture is strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and customers.
• Careful and respectful when handling customers' property, antiques, and furniture.
• Previous moving, delivery, warehouse, or furniture-handling experience is a plus but not required.

Compensation & Schedule

• Hourly Pay: Negotiable based on experience, capabilities, and availability.
• Fuel Compensation: Additional fuel surcharges or reimbursements when applicable.
• Delivery Income: Opportunities for additional compensation through furniture deliveries.
• Tips: Customer delivery tips are additional to regular hourly compensation.
• Schedule: Flexible, part-time hours based on estate sale schedules, with weekend availability important.
