What they need
What to Expect
The Material Planner, Charging Deployment, makes sure the right parts and equipment are in the right place at the right time for Tesla's Supercharger deployment program worldwide. This person links the construction schedule to the supply chain. They turn a charging pipeline of sites into material plans, supplier commitments and complete to ensure on-time deliveries to each site across North America, EMEA and APAC. They will build deep knowledge of Tesla Energy's supply chain, the deployment and construction process, and the Supercharger product and its deployment materials. They will run MRP, set and carry out inventory strategies, plan for design changes , resolve exceptions, and drive supplier execution. As we expand into new markets, they will also lead the standardization of deployment planning processes and systems across regions. The role is global and works across many teams within Tesla, as well as with outside suppliers and logistics partners.
What You'll Do
- Turn the deployment pipeline (site schedules, construction starts and energization dates) into material requirements, run MRP on schedule, and execute supply plans that meet deployment, inventory and cost targets while owning clear-to-deploy status through coverage, shortage and run-out reporting that surfaces risks early
- Plan and position inventory across regional warehouses, 3PLs and staging locations, and manage the material side of schedule changes (pull-ins, push-outs and cancellations) by reallocating inventory and adjusting supplier commitments to reduce excess and expedite costs
- Build working partnerships with suppliers of long-lead and site equipment, maintain scheduling agreements, act as the main contact on delivery status and issue resolution, and escalate to GSM, Quality, Engineering or Product Teams when needed
- Plan product and design changes (revision cut-ins and phase-outs) across in-progress sites and inventory, own the SKU lifecycle after NPI handoff through sustaining—including PFEP setup for new and changed parts—and keep item data, the EPC parts catalog and the SBOM clean and current
- Own excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory for deployment parts, lead quarterly E&O report-outs, and use analytics to set planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, lot sizes) and run scenario analyses when the pipeline changes
- Lead standardization of deployment planning processes, systems and master data across NAM, EMEA and APAC—including MRP cadence, planning parameters, reporting and exception handling—and support new-market onboarding (starting with APAC) with a repeatable playbook
- Partner with Deployment and Construction Program Management, Site Development, Engineering, Demand Planning, GSM, Logistics, Warehouse Operations and regional supply chain teams
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain or project-based material planning, with a Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience; CPIM/APICS training is a plus
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure-to-pay and supply chain operations, with strongly preferred experience planning material for construction, capital projects or field deployment
- Experience with Plan for Every Part (PFEP), BOM and item master data maintenance, multi-region or global supply chains, and standardizing processes or systems across sites or regions is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with Excel proficiency required and SQL, Tableau or similar tools a plus, plus a track record of managing supplier performance and relationships
- Comfort with shifting schedules and priorities, a strong sense of urgency and ownership over site outcomes, and the ability to work independently across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Diplomacy and a collaborative style to influence others across regions inside and outside Tesla, with clear, persuasive written and verbal communication including presenting to cross-functional leaders
- Flexibility to support partners in other time zones
