Material Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a Remote Material Specialist to support the development, evaluation, and documentation of materials used in color standards, swatch panels, and quality‑control products. This role is ideal for individuals with strong knowledge of substrates, coatings, surface behavior, and material performance. The Material Specialist will collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure materials meet required specifications for color accuracy and durability.

Duties

• Evaluate and recommend materials for color standards, panels, and testing tools.
• Review substrate properties to ensure compatibility with color‑critical applications.
• Support quality‑control processes by assessing material consistency across batches.
• Document material specifications, performance characteristics, and handling guidelines.
• Collaborate with production partners and vendors to maintain material quality.
• Assist in diagnosing material‑related issues affecting color appearance or durability.
• Provide technical guidance to clients regarding material selection and best practices.
• Maintain organized records of materials, suppliers, and testing results.
• Participate in ongoing product development and improvement initiatives.

Skills

• Experience working with materials, substrates, coatings, or related fields.
• Understanding of how surface properties affect color appearance and consistency.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with quality‑control processes is preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, printing, or color‑critical industries is a plus.

Pay: $35.34 - $60.52 per hour
