About the Role
We are seeking a Materials Coordinator / Materials Engineer to join a company operating in the marine and offshore sector.
This is a dual-role position , combining hands-on materials coordination for a specific project at Larnaca Port with ongoing materials engineering and technical responsibilities across the company.
Initially, the successful candidate will oversee the receipt, inspection, storage, preservation and release of project materials at the Larnaca marine base. Once the project is completed, the project-specific coordination duties will come to an end, but the position is intended to continue on a permanent basis, focusing on materials engineering, inspection, quality, supplier evaluation and technical support for future projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Materials Coordination – Larnaca Port
- Coordinate the receipt and inspection of linepipe, subsea structures and other project materials against shipping documents and project requirements.
- Inspect incoming materials, document their condition and report any shortages, damage or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate materials registers, ensuring full traceability of materials, certificates, storage locations and movements.
- Verify mill test certificates and supplier documentation against technical specifications.
- Ensure appropriate storage, stacking and preservation of materials in accordance with approved procedures.
- Manage quarantined and non-conforming materials until a decision is made by the client.
- Coordinate the release and dispatch of materials, including the preparation of relevant documentation.
- Liaise with the client, logistics teams, yard personnel and Customs as required.
- Prepare regular inventory and materials status reports.
2. Materials Engineering and Technical Support – Ongoing Responsibilities
- Provide materials engineering and corrosion-related input for tenders, technical proposals and material selection.
- Prepare and review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), welding and coating requirements, and non-destructive testing (NDT) scopes.
- Evaluate suppliers and subcontractors and review their technical documentation and certifications.
- Support inspection and certification activities for lifting equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Investigate material or equipment failures, prepare technical reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare material quantity estimates and cost calculations for tenders and project variations.
- Contribute to the development of technical procedures, quality systems and digital processes.
- Provide engineering and technical support to projects, fabrication activities and company operations.
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering standards, material specifications and certification requirements.
- Familiarity with inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT) and quality documentation.
- Experience in offshore, marine, fabrication or similar industrial environments would be an advantage.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Fluent in Greek and English, both written and spoken.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on operational port environment and following health and safety requirements.
- Valid driving licence.
Salary and Benefits
- Gross annual salary of €26,400–€30,000, depending on qualifications and experience, paid in 12 instalments.
- 22 days of paid annual leave.
- Participation in the Group's Medical Insurance Plan from the first day of employment.
Location and Working Arrangements
The role is based at Larnaca Port, with travel to Limassol and client sites as required.
An important point about the opportunity: Although the initial assignment is linked to a specific project in Larnaca, the intention is to retain the successful candidate after the project is completed, continuing in the company's materials engineering and technical function.
