Materials Engineer (Mechanical)

This is a Senior Materials Engineer position to improve the quality of suppliers' piece-parts in the area of responsibility. Identifies and evaluates alternative materials or suppliers to maintain competitive quality, assurance of supply and/or pricing of piece-parts. Provides technical support for NPI (New Product Introduction) & Product Transfer. Assists manufacturing in resolving material related issues, and also provide technical guidance to less experienced Engineers.

1. Provides technical support in terms of specification interpretation, adequacy of existing documentation, disposition of non-conforming materials, and training on the usage of all inspection measuring equipment.
2. Identifies and plans for inspection and test requirements needed for adequate assessment of the quality of incoming piece-parts.
3. Analyzes inspection, evaluation and test data. Feedback quality performance and follow-up on quality issues with suppliers.
4. Active involvement in quality improvement program with suppliers.
5. Leads in sourcing for substitute/ alternative materials to achieve cost savings, ensuring assurance of supply and / or improve quality of piece-parts.
6. Assists manufacturing in evaluating material related issue to ensure correct disposition of non-conformance materials.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering Sciences or Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years related experience.
• Experienced in manufacturing and supplier engineering role.
• Resourcefulness, attention to details, demonstrate sound analysis skill and offering solutions.
