What they need

Seeking a Materials Manager to lead the flow of materials supporting its Hingham manufacturing operation. The role calls for a hands-on manager who can develop a team, resolve shortages, improve inventory accuracy, and work closely with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the materials team and establish clear priorities, performance measures, and development plans.
  • Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Monitor supplier deliveries and material shortages; coordinate recovery plans when supply issues threaten production.
  • Improve inventory accuracy through sound receiving, storage, cycle counting, and transaction practices.
  • Use SAP or a comparable ERP/MRP system to review demand, inventory, purchase orders, and material data.
  • Partner with engineering and purchasing to manage material changes, new parts, and obsolete inventory.
  • Improve warehouse organization, kitting, and material flow from receipt through production and shipment.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and cost while maintaining reliable material availability.
  • Promote safe work practices and continuous improvement across materials operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading materials, supply chain, purchasing, planning, or warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and work across manufacturing, engineering, and quality functions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with custom, make-to-order, or electrical equipment manufacturing is a plus.

Military logistics and supply leaders with relevant manufacturing or inventory experience are encouraged to apply.
