What they need
Responsibilities:
Design and execute material testing programs for SMA refrigerant materials in target application segments (IDC / Cold Chain / NEV), covering chemical composition analysis, microstructural characterization (metallography, SEM, EBSD, XRD, etc.), mechanical property testing (static compression, tensile, dynamic fatigue), and cooling performance testing.
Independently manage the full testing workflow: sample preparation, equipment operation, data acquisition, result analysis, and test report authoring; ensure data accuracy and reporting rigor.
Conduct failure analysis on materials and processed components; identify root causes and provide actionable recommendations for materials formulation and process optimization.
Develop, revise, and maintain internal testing standards and acceptance criteria for SMA materials; ensure alignment with relevant industry and application-specific standards (IDC, automotive, cold chain).
Continuously characterize and test new SMA material variants as they are developed, providing timely feedback to the materials R&D team to meet project milestones and iteration cycles.
Perform regular maintenance and calibration of testing equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and long-term stability.
Collaborate closely with materials scientists, process engineers, and product teams; support materials selection decisions and quality investigations throughout the product development cycle.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or above in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mechanics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
2+ years of first-hand practical experience in at least two of the following: material testing scheme design, testing equipment operation, test data analysis, failure analysis, and testing standard formulation; experience with SMA, nickel-based, titanium-based, or functional alloy systems is a strong plus.
Proficient in microstructural characterization techniques (SEM, EBSD, metallography, etc.) and/or mechanical testing equipment; able to independently interpret standards and apply them to novel material systems.
Strong data processing, statistical analysis, and technical report writing skills; detail-oriented with rigorous documentation habits.
Able to manage multiple concurrent testing workstreams under project timeline pressure; proactive in communicating test progress and flagging risks.
Good communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, and collaborative team spirit.
Prior experience at a third-party testing laboratory, national standards institute, or well-known manufacturer is a plus.
