Math Enrichment Instructor – Elementary Math

Required Availability: Mondays, 3:30–5:00 PM

Prep Academy Tutors of North Austin is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Math Enrichment Instructor to lead a fun, Pokémon-themed mathematics enrichment class at a private independent school in West Lake Hills.

This is a specialized, part-time enrichment opportunity ideal for an educator, tutor, education student, STEM instructor, or youth-program professional who enjoys making math interactive and exciting for elementary-aged students.

About PokéMath

PokéMath uses the excitement of Pokémon to help young learners strengthen foundational mathematics skills through hands-on games, challenges, creative activities, and friendly competition.

Students will practice skills such as:

• Number recognition and counting
• Addition and subtraction
• Comparing numbers and Pokémon statistics
• Calculating battle damage and energy costs
• Sorting, categorizing, and graphing Pokémon types
• Recognizing mathematical patterns
• Using number lines, tally marks, and ten-frames
• Exploring introductory probability concepts
• Problem-solving and logical reasoning
• Applying math concepts to strategic decision-making

Students will also have opportunities to design their own Pokémon cards by assigning health points, attack values, and energy costs while applying the math concepts taught during class.

Throughout the program, students will build and balance decks, complete interactive math challenges, and ultimately apply what they have learned during a fun, friendly PokéMath tournament.

Responsibilities

The PokéMath Instructor will:

• Lead the prepared PokéMath enrichment curriculum in an engaging, age-appropriate manner
• Create an energetic, positive, and supportive classroom environment
• Explain foundational math concepts clearly and creatively
• Guide students through Pokémon-based math games and hands-on activities
• Assist students with creating custom Pokémon cards and completing math challenges
• Encourage participation, teamwork, problem-solving, and logical thinking
• Manage classroom transitions, materials, and student engagement
• Maintain appropriate classroom behavior and supervision
• Arrive on campus prepared and on time each Monday
• Communicate professionally with Prep Academy Tutors regarding attendance, classroom needs, or concerns
• Represent Prep Academy Tutors professionally while working on the school campus

Ideal Candidate

We are especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Elementary education
• Mathematics instruction or tutoring
• After-school or enrichment programming
• STEM education
• Youth programs, camps, or recreation
• Classroom management
• Pokémon Trading Card Game or Pokémon-related activities

Pokémon expertise is helpful but not required. We are primarily looking for someone who is comfortable working with children, understands foundational math concepts, and can confidently facilitate an interactive enrichment class.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-aged children
• Strong understanding of foundational elementary mathematics
• Ability to confidently lead and manage a small group of students
• Energetic, dependable, patient, and engaging teaching style
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable transportation to West Lake Hills
• Ability to commit to the complete Monday program schedule
• Must be available Mondays approximately 3:30–5:00 PM
• Must successfully complete all required onboarding and background-screening requirements
