About Rebel Tuition
Rebel Tuition provides personalised, tutor-led tuition in Maths, English and Science for learners from primary school through to GCSE.
We believe effective tuition starts with understanding the learner. Our tutors plan individualised lessons, identify gaps in knowledge, explain challenging concepts and adapt their teaching to help learners develop secure understanding, improve grades and grow in confidence.
We offer 1:1 tuition, shared 1:2 tuition and small Focus Groups, giving learners different levels of support to suit their needs.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a knowledgeable and engaging Maths & Physics Tutor to join our growing team, delivering tuition to secondary-age learners studying KS3 and GCSE.
You may specialise in Maths, Physics or both. We're looking for tutors with strong subject knowledge who can explain challenging concepts clearly, identify gaps in understanding and help learners make meaningful academic progress.
You'll plan and deliver structured, personalised 80-minute sessions, adapting your teaching to each learner's needs and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, structured 80-minute tuition sessions.

Identify gaps in knowledge, misconceptions and areas requiring further practice.

Explain challenging concepts through clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice.

Adapt teaching to individual learning needs, abilities and academic goals.

Develop mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and scientific application skills.

Prepare learners for assessments and GCSE examinations.

Check understanding throughout sessions and revisit learning where needed.

Help learners develop confidence, independence and effective learning strategies.

Maintain appropriate records of attendance, progress and learning targets.

Follow safeguarding, health and safety and organisational procedures.

What You'll Teach
You'll deliver Maths and/or Physics tuition at KS3 and GCSE level, adapting lessons to each learner's current knowledge, learning needs and academic goals.
You should be confident teaching your chosen subject, addressing gaps in understanding and preparing learners for assessments and GCSE examinations, including the relevant exam-board specifications.

Ability to explain concepts clearly and break down challenging topics.

Confidence planning and delivering structured lessons.

Ability to adapt teaching to different learning needs.

Our Approach
At Rebel, personalised tuition means more than setting independent tasks or directing learners through a digital programme.
Our tutors actively teach, explain, question, listen and adapt throughout each session. We want learners to understand what they are learning, why it works and how to apply their knowledge independently.
You'll be responsible for planning your own lessons, with an induction into Rebel's approach to lesson planning and the use of AI-supported tools to help make planning more efficient.
Opportunities Beyond Tuition
As Rebel grows, there may also be opportunities to deliver creative and personalised learning during the daytime through our Alternative Provision, supporting young people who experience barriers to accessing mainstream education.
This provides scope to develop your experience and take on additional work across our provision.
Safeguarding & Recruitment
Rebel Tuition is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
The recruitment process will include:

An application and self-declaration of relevant criminal convictions.

Two references.

An enhanced DBS check, including a children's barred-list check where legally eligible and appropriate for the role.

Verification of identity and right to work in the UK before employment.

A safeguarding agreement and induction before commencing work.

It is an offence for a person who is barred from regulated activity with children to seek to undertake such activity. Candidates must be able to meet the relevant safeguarding requirements for the role.
How to Apply
If you have strong Maths and/or Physics knowledge, enjoy helping learners understand challenging concepts and want to make a meaningful difference to their academic progress, we'd love to hear from you.
Please apply initially through Indeed by submitting your application. If shortlisted, you'll be invited to complete our tutor application form, where we'll ask about your subject expertise, qualifications, experience, availability and approach to supporting learners.
This forms part of our safer recruitment process and helps us assess your suitability for the role.
