Maths Teaching Assistant

About the role

Leading Education is seeking a dedicated Maths Teaching Assistant to join our secondary education team in the Mong Kok Yau Tsim Mong District. This is a full-time position that offers a rewarding opportunity to support student learning and development in mathematics across a secondary school environment. As a Maths Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with qualified mathematics teachers to deliver engaging lessons, provide individualised student support, and help create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. This role is vital in ensuring that students receive the guidance and assistance they need to excel in their mathematical studies.

Key responsibilities

• Support qualified mathematics teachers in delivering lessons to secondary students, assisting with explanation of concepts and mathematical principles
• Provide one-to-one or small group tuition to students who require additional support or intervention in mathematics
• Help prepare teaching materials, worksheets, and resources that support the mathematics curriculum
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student understanding and areas requiring further support
• Assist in marking homework and classroom assignments, providing constructive feedback to students
• Support classroom management and help maintain a positive, focused learning environment
• Encourage student engagement and foster confidence in mathematics through patient, supportive interaction
• Collaborate with teachers to identify students who may benefit from additional support or enrichment activities
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate relevant information to teaching staff

What we're looking for

• GCSE Mathematics (Grade C/4 or equivalent) or HKDSE (level 5 or above) or higher qualification in Mathematics
• Strong numeracy skills and a solid understanding of secondary-level mathematics concepts
• Experience working with young people in an educational setting, or demonstrated commitment to supporting student learning
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to students of varying abilities
• Patient, compassionate approach to working with students who may struggle with mathematics
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team alongside qualified teachers and other support staff
• Strong organisational skills and reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments
• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to obtain one
• Preferred: 3 years of relevant experience in a school environment
• Preferred: Familiarity with secondary mathematics curriculum and examination board specifications
