The Sydney Polytechnic Institute (SPI) is a TEQSA registered and approved private tertiary education institution that opened for teaching in June 2023 in Sydney’s CBD. About the role

The Lecturer will teach assigned subjects to students face-to-face on campus. The position is responsible for the review and delivery of units of study and ensuring alignment with all quality measures and governance requirements. Working closely with the Unit of Study and Course Coordinators, will ensure quality outcomes and an excellent student experience.

Key responsibilities

• Review, prepare and deliver learning materials and assessments.
• Effectively undertake administrative duties related to teaching activities of identified units of study or courses.
• Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical classes and workshops.
• Supervise and guide students in relation to academic matters during and outside (agreed) scheduled teaching times.
• Review learning resources and course material with appropriate support and oversight from senior academic staff.
• Identify and, where appropriate, address student needs.
• Monitor, evaluate, report on, and assess student progress.
• Refer students to the appropriate channels of support.

A successful candidate will have

• A PhD in the field of Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of teaching experience and demonstrated high quality of teaching and experience in a teaching role at a higher education institution.
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate industry learnings into teaching and learning approaches.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, and online learning tools such as Moodle.
• A high level of passion and enthusiasm for teaching.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others.
• Demonstrated ability to coach or mentor students at a tertiary education level.
• Demonstrated a track record of ethical conduct in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and workloads.
• Experience with supporting students from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
