Meat Cutter Apprentice

Clements' Marketplace in Plymouth, MA is currently seeking a full-time Meat Cutter Apprentice. Clements' is a family owned and operated business in operation since 1980. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in learning the meat-cutting trade and building a career in the grocery industry. Our experienced Meat Department team will provide hands-on training in cutting, preparation, packaging, merchandising and customer service.

Duties:

• Learn proper techniques for cutting, grinding and packaging a variety of beef, pork and poultry products.
• Learn to safely and properly operate department equipment, including meat saws, slicers, grinders, wrapping machines and knives.
• Assist with maintaining proper product assortment, merchandising and product quality on the sales floor.
• Learn proper weighing, labeling and packaging procedures in accordance with USDA and company guidelines.
• Assist with product rotation to maximize freshness and quality in display cases and coolers.
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service, including assisting customers on the sales floor and preparing special requests as skills develop.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting and stocking products as needed.
• Follow all company safety, sanitation and food safety procedures.
• Work closely with the Meat Department Manager and experienced Meat Cutters to learn the skills and responsibilities necessary to advance in the trade.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous meat-cutting experience is not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Interest in learning the meat-cutting trade and developing a career in the Meat Department.
• Reliable, motivated and willing to learn.
• Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and learn new techniques and procedures.
• Ability to work as part of a team and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with the position.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
