Mechanic & Mot Tester

NEATH HILL SERVICE CENTRE Ltd is looking for an experienced MOT Tester and Vehicle Mechanic to join our workshop team in Milton Keynes.

This is a hands-on role combining MOT testing with general vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and mechanical repairs. The successful candidate should be confident working across a wide range of vehicle makes and models, accurately diagnosing faults and completing repairs to a high professional standard.

You will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests in line with current DVSA requirements, identifying mechanical issues, completing necessary repairs and helping ensure every vehicle leaving the workshop is safe, roadworthy and properly maintained.

Duties

• Carry out MOT tests in accordance with current DVSA regulations and testing standards.
• Complete all MOT documentation and testing records accurately.
• Perform vehicle inspections to identify mechanical faults, wear and safety-related issues.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out servicing, routine maintenance and general mechanical repairs.
• Repair and replace components including brakes, suspension, steering and other vehicle systems.
• Carry out repairs following MOT failures where required.
• Perform pre-MOT checks and general vehicle safety inspections.
• Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, vehicle lifts and workshop machinery safely and correctly.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and technical information when completing repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues regarding faults, repairs and work required.
• Explain MOT results and repair requirements clearly when dealing with customers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Current and valid DVSA MOT Tester status.
• Previous experience working as a Vehicle Mechanic, Technician or MOT Tester.
• Strong practical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Good diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
• Experience working with brakes, suspension, steering and general vehicle systems.
• Confident using diagnostic equipment, hand tools and power tools.
• Good understanding of current MOT testing requirements and vehicle safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a professional approach to workmanship.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
