Mechanic

Role & responsibilities

• Handle daily repair and maintenance of company commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair small to medium mechanical complaints in diesel vehicles.
• Maintain vehicles such as Tata, Mahindra, Chhota Hathi, 2.5-tonne trucks, and similar commercial vehicles.
• Attend vehicle breakdowns and ensure minimum downtime.
• Carry out preventive maintenance as per schedule.
• Check engine, clutch, brake, suspension, gearbox, electrical, diesel pump, and other vehicle systems.
• Maintain vehicle service records and repair history.
• Manage spare parts inventory for the fleet.
• Plan spare parts requirement in advance to avoid vehicle stoppage.
• Coordinate with procurement team for timely ordering of spare parts.
• Supervise and train 12 junior Congolese mechanics.
• Ensure proper usage of tools, workshop equipment, and spare parts.
• Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and safety standards in the workshop.
• Report major vehicle issues and repair requirements to management.

Required Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic.
• Experience in commercial vehicle maintenance is compulsory.
• Prior work experience in India will be preferred.
• Strong knowledge of diesel commercial vehicles.
• Experience with vehicles such as Tata, Mahindra, Chhota Hathi, 2.5-tonne trucks, medium trucks, and similar vehicles.
• Should be able to independently diagnose and repair common vehicle problems.
• Basic knowledge of spare parts planning and inventory control.
• Ability to train and guide junior mechanics.
• Willing to work in Lubumbashi, DRC.
