About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves working on a range of trucks, heavy machinery, and crushing equipment, supporting the day-to-day operations of the workshop.

Working alongside the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment to a high standard, minimising downtime, and ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and correctly.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can take ownership of their work, think independently, and operate without constant supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and associated systems
• Service and repair trucks, earthmoving equipment, and crushing plant machinery
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Carry out breakdown repairs in the workshop and on-site when required
• Maintain accurate service records and reports
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies
• Work collaboratively with the Workshop Manager and team

Skills & Experience (Minimum Requirements)

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery (not just light vehicles)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic ability (not just parts replacement)
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Reliable with consistent attendance
• Current driver’s licence

Highly Regarded

• Experience with crushing and screening equipment
• HR/HC licence
• Field service or breakdown experience
