MECHANIC

About the role

The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing company vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery to ensure they remain in safe and proper working condition. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, identifying mechanical issues, and conducting necessary repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support daily project operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of company vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery to identify mechanical issues and potential defects
• Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and other routine servicing
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel engine problems
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and equipment as necessary
• Ensure that all repairs and maintenance work are performed safely and according to established procedures
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used
• Monitor the condition of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies, and report any shortages or replacement needs
• Coordinate with equipment operators, site personnel, and supervisors regarding equipment issues and maintenance schedules
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform necessary repairs to minimize operational delays
• Ensure that tools, equipment, and the maintenance work area are kept clean, organized, and safe

About you

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a mechanic, preferably in construction, heavy equipment, or industrial operations
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
• Familiarity with the maintenance and repair of construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery
• Ability to identify mechanical faults and perform appropriate repairs
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and proper handling of mechanical tools and equipment
• Physically capable of performing maintenance and repair tasks in a workshop or project site environment
• Willing to be assigned to project sites and perform field repairs when necessary
• NC II certification in Automotive Servicing, Heavy Equipment Servicing, or a related field is an advantage
