DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Estimates costs of repair, labor, and parts
• Repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds gasoline and/or diesel engines, power trains, chassis, power plants and related mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Removes, repairs, or rebuilds component parts such as starters, alternators, generators, and carburetors
• Diagnoses and repairs heating, cooling, and emissions systems
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Mounts and balances tires
• Constructs or fabricates mechanical parts and tools
• Rebuilds, repairs, or services small gasoline engines, power saws, pumps mowers, and other motorized devices
• Cleans and maintains equipment and shop area
• Performs inspections and operates vehicles and equipment to evaluate capabilities and compliance with safety regulations
• Prepares records of repairs, costs, and time involved
• Prepares specifications and requisitions for parts and equipment
• Maintains inventory of supplies, parts, and materials
• Prepare inspection reports
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid WV Driver’s License
• High School Diploma/GED preferred / Must be at least 18 years of age
• Minimum of Five years’ related work experience in diagnosing and repairing gasoline and/or diesel automotive and construction type equipment preferred
• Excellent equipment operation of but not limited to bulldozers, tractors, backhoes, excavators, front end loaders, tractor/trailer rig with lowboy, hand operated power tools, mechanic tools and other related specialized equipment, and hand tools.

Basic Qualifications

• At least 5 years of repairs and rebuilding gasoline and/or diesel engines, power trains, chassis, and related mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Familiar with diagnosing and repairing heating, cooling, and emissions systems
• Experience estimating cost of repairs, parts, and labor
• Experience fabricating mechanical parts and tools
• Proficient in preventative maintenance
• Knowledgeable with the operations of but not limited to bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, front end loaders, hand operated power tools
