Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY: Maintain plant equipment to minimize downtime. Work closely with plant Maintenance and other employees to reduce downtime and improve machine efficiency. Work closely with plant maintenance employees giving support as needed. Interact with plant management to enhance operation of equipment and to provide support to purchasing as needed.

The individual in this position must demonstrate initiative, creativity and be Self-motivated; along with having the ability to train others when needed and to maintain plant processing systems and repairs. Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position.

Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain plant processing systems and assist with all plant processing and Packaging equipment.
• Be capable of completing assigned Preventive Maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain all plant processing equipment. Maintain all aspects of mechanical systems.
• Demonstrates the ability to Change pumps and gearbox’s as needed
• Support plant maintenance department as needed such as maintenance functions and assisting mechanics as needed.
• Support plant electrical department as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate with co-workers, coordinate and complete work responsibilities in a timely manner, and use good judgment in decision-making.
• Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures Ensures no injury to self or others by following safe work practices and policies

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Must be able to work any shift and any hours assigned.

· Must be able to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and Division)

· Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.

· Must be able to work in extreme environments, such as hot, cold, wet, very loud noise, and slick floors.

· Must be able to work in pressure situations.

· Must be able to work unsupervised at times

· Must be able to work minor and major repairs

· Must be able to operate machinery

· Must be able to maneuver in close quarters, climb stairs, and walking

· Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.

· Must be able to push/pull with assistance up to 200 lbs.

· Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals.

· Must be willing to do paperwork associated with job

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.85 - $29.70 per hour
