Mechanical Coiling Tech

Position Overview

Ashley Furniture is seeking a skilled Bedding Coiling Technician to join our bedding manufacturing team. This role is critical to maintaining high-quality production standards and operational efficiency in our coiling operations.

Primary Accountability

Maintain process performance, product quality, and operational continuity through the verification and correction of critical process parameters, including:

• Coil specifications
• Pocket size
• Heat treatment
• Spring count
• Coil pack dimensions
• Glue application
• Associated machine settings

Key Responsibilities

Process Management & Optimization

• Adjust process speed and timing to optimize production output
• Perform changeovers and setups between production runs
• Replace minor wear items as needed
• Monitor material output for compliance with specifications

Quality Control & Troubleshooting

• Verify and correct critical process parameters throughout production
• Troubleshoot process interruptions and identify root causes
• Correct defects and implement preventive measures
• Respond to issues escalated by machine operators

Technical Support & Training

• Provide sensor training to operators
• Offer ongoing operator support and guidance
• Escalate maintenance-related concerns requiring technical support beyond the role's scope

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance on coiling equipment
• Identify and address equipment issues proactively
• Coordinate with maintenance team on complex repairs

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Experience in manufacturing or production environment
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

• Previous experience with bedding or spring manufacturing
• Knowledge of automated production equipment
• Understanding of quality control processes
• Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Capability to lift up to 80 lbs
• Manual dexterity for equipment adjustments
• Visual acuity for quality inspection
