Mechanical Design Engineer

AMADA WELD TECH is part of the AMADA group and known as an innovator in finding creative joining and metal processing solutions. We have available a Mechanical Design Engineers role in our UK Office based in Mildenhall Suffolk.

Job Summary

The role focuses on creating robust mechanical designs for industrial equipment—including resistance welding, TIG welding and small bench systems. Engineers manage the product lifecycle from initial discussions with the customers, 3D computer-aided design (CAD – Autodesk Inventor) conceptualization through prototyping, testing, and production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design: Generate 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for precise component fixtures, enclosures, and small high-accuracy systems using CAD tools. Collaborate with electrical and software teams to integrate fixtures, pneumatic components, and welding components into bench systems.
• Prototype Testing: Build and evaluate physical prototypes to validate the safety, tolerance, and performance of new designs.
• Manufacturing Support: Provide engineering data, Bill of Materials (BOM), and assembly documentation to streamline production.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a highly related technical field.
• Experience: Typically 2+ years of professional engineering experience working in industrial automation, machinery manufacturing, or precision tool design.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with 3D CAD platforms (such as Autodesk Inventor) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of metal fabrication techniques, CNC machining is beneficial.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
