Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in Building Maintenance Units (BMU) and mechanical equipment design. The candidate should be proficient in Autodesk Inventor and capable of independently designing and developing mechanical machines and components from concept through manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop BMU machines, systems, and mechanical components using Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Develop mechanical designs based on project requirements, specifications, and site conditions.
• Design components such as frames, platforms, brackets, lifting mechanisms, drums, shafts, gears, and structural assemblies.
• Perform basic mechanical calculations for loads, stresses, lifting capacities, material selection, and component sizing.
• Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) and fabrication drawings for production.
• Coordinate with production, fabrication, electrical, and project teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Review and modify existing designs to improve performance, safety, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Review shop drawings and provide technical support during fabrication and installation.
• Conduct design revisions based on engineering requirements, testing, and site feedback.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and technical improvements of BMU machines.
• Coordinate with suppliers for mechanical components and technical specifications when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical machine design, preferably in BMU, façade access equipment, lifting equipment, or similar machinery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor.
• Good knowledge of 3D modeling, assembly design, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Experience in designing machines, mechanisms, and fabricated steel structures.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, materials, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and prepare technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Knowledge of BMU systems, lifting mechanisms, wire ropes, winches, motors, gearboxes, and safety systems will be an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with production and project teams.
