Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join PORT's hardware engineering team full time in London. You will deliver robust, production-ready mechanical designs for our next-generation micromobility hardware, from e-bikes to docking and charging infrastructure.
You will develop new design solutions for R&D projects and drive through-life improvements and modifications on hardware already in service across our connected fleet in the UK and Europe. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of design, testing and manufacturing, with real products on the street as the measure of success.

- Produce design assurance documentation, including design reports, test procedures, stress calculations, tolerance analyses and related engineering reports
- Review and approve design work completed by yourself and other engineers
- Support test and validation activities to verify designs against requirements and durability targets
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the focal point for mechanical engineering investigations across fleet operations, maintenance, supply chain, quality and our OEM and manufacturing partners
- Support root cause analysis of in-field failures and turn findings into design improvements
- Work closely with systems, electrical and firmware engineers to deliver integrated hardware solutions
Team Development
- Contribute to improving engineering processes, design standards and documentation practices
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA or Onshape), including detailed drawings and GD&T
- Strong understanding of engineering materials and associated production methods (injection moulding, die casting, sheet metal, machining)
- Experience producing stress calculations and tolerance analyses
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams
Desirable
- Experience delivering work packages and supporting or supervising engineers
- Experience with electrical and electronic systems
- Experience in high-volume consumer hardware
