MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

About the role

Design and develop customized automation machines, equipment, jigs and fixtures based on customer requirements. Prepare 3D mechanical designs, 2D fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM). Develop machine concepts, mechanical layouts and technical solutions for new automation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems including conveyors, linear motion systems, pneumatic mechanisms, robotic handling systems and precision assembly mechanisms
• Perform mechanical component selection including motors, actuators, cylinders, bearings, linear guides and other standard parts
• Ensure designs consider machine functionality, manufacturability, assembly, maintenance, safety and cost optimization
• Work closely with electrical, software, purchasing and production teams to ensure smooth project execution
• Provide technical support during machine assembly, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning
• Review fabrication parts and resolve mechanical design or assembly issues
• Manage assigned design tasks and ensure drawings and BOMs are released according to project schedules
• Support continuous improvement and standardization of machine designs

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related field
• Preferably 2–5 years of experience in automation machine design or special-purpose machine manufacturing
• Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, pneumatic systems, linear motion systems and automation components
• Able to prepare complete 2D fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and BOMs independently
• Knowledge of machining processes, material selection, tolerances and fabrication methods
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams
