Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Design efficient and effective HVAC and plumbing systems for new construction and renovation projects. Perform load calculations, select appropriate equipment and components, and prepare specification schedules to meet client requirements and applicable codes.
2. Ensure all designs comply with applicable building codes, mechanical and plumbing codes, regulations, and relevant industry standards.
3. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, trades, project teams, and clients to ensure seamless integration of HVAC and plumbing systems with the overall construction plans.
4. Prepare detailed design drawings, system layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, specifications, and other technical documentation required for project execution.
5. Prepare project proposals and estimate the required engineering hours for new projects based on project scope, complexity, and deliverables.
6. Research and apply current engineering principles, updated codes, industry standards, and emerging technologies to improve design quality, efficiency, and compliance.
7. Develop HVAC and plumbing designs using AutoCAD and Revit. Create, maintain, and improve reusable drawing templates, blocks, families, and other design resources to support consistency and efficiency in future projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Must have relevant experience in HVAC and plumbing system design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit is an advantage.
• Must be willing and able to conduct on-site visits as required by project needs.
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients,architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Must reside in or near Reseda, Los Angeles, California, and be able to travel to project sites as needed.
• An engineering license is not required.
