Mechanical Design Engineer- Dosing Pumps

Role & responsibilities

• Function: Pump Design & Engineering

Job Purpose

To design and develop pump-related mechanical components, assemblies, and systems in accordance with customer requirements, process conditions, technical specifications, applicable standards, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for pumps and associated components.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
• Perform mechanical calculations for shafts, couplings, supports, fasteners, and other components.
• Review pump specifications and customer technical requirements.
• Coordinate with process and engineering teams for appropriate equipment selection and configuration.
• Select suitable materials based on application, fluid characteristics, temperature, pressure, corrosion, and operating conditions.
• Prepare BOMs, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and assembly.
• Coordinate with procurement, production, quality, and project teams.
• Investigate and resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and testing.
• Support cost reduction, standardization, and value engineering initiatives.
• Provide technical support during inspection, installation, and commissioning.

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
• Mechanical calculations.
• Understanding of pump components and assemblies.
• Basic knowledge of pump application and selection.
• Material selection.
• Manufacturing and fabrication knowledge.
• DFMA principles.
• Engineering drawing and BOM preparation.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience: 1-2 years preferred
• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
• Reporting To: Engineering Manager / Head Mechanical Design
