What they need

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern to join our Engineering/R&D team. The intern will get hands-on exposure to mechanical design, 3D CAD modelling, technical drawings, prototyping, and the development of mechanical systems used in challenging field environments.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering concepts, good problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and work on practical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the development of mechanical structures, enclosures, mounting systems, and mechanisms.
  • Assist with basic structural and mechanical calculations and analysis.
  • Support prototyping, testing, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Assist in selecting suitable materials and manufacturing processes for components.
  • Work with manufacturing teams on CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in maintaining engineering drawings, BOMs, design documentation, and test reports.
  • Collaborate with Electronics, Robotics, and Software teams for mechanical integration.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for improving product performance, reliability, and ease of use.

The internship will provide exposure to areas such as precision mechanical design, electromechanical systems, prototyping, and field-deployable equipment. These areas are aligned with the broader engineering scope of the original role.

Education:

  • Pursuing or recently completed B.Tech/B.E. in ECE, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Mechanical Design and Engineering Drawing.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of basic concepts of strength of materials, mechanics, and machine design.
  • Basic knowledge of materials such as aluminium, steel, and composites is desirable.
  • Familiarity with FEA/ANSYS will be an advantage.
  • Exposure to 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, or other prototyping methods will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on engineering environment.
