MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (Junior to Experienced)

About the role

This is a great opportunity for a Junior Mechanical Engineer, recent graduate, or experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to develop their career in a practical, hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be involved in mechanical design, 3D modelling, CAD drafting, engineering drawings, product development, manufacturing support, and maintenance of production equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, products, systems, and equipment
• Create accurate 3D models, CAD designs, and detailed engineering drawings
• Prepare, update, and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Assist with design development, engineering calculations, and problem-solving
• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machines and equipment
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs and adjustments as required
• Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment
• Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency
• Ensure engineering and maintenance work complies with relevant Australian standards and safety requirements

About you

• Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Strong interest and ability in 3D modelling, CAD design, and technical drawing
• Proficient in, or willing to develop skills in, relevant CAD software
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Practical and hands-on approach to engineering, maintenance, and problem-solving
• Experience or interest in machinery maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting
• Good computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
