About the role

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Designer. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in translating our innovative concepts into detailed technical designs and engineering drawings. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating precise technical documentation and design specifications that form the foundation of our engineering projects. This role is essential to our operations, enabling us to deliver high-quality products and solutions whilst maintaining efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

• Creating detailed mechanical drawings and design specifications using SolidWorks (CAD) software
• Interpreting engineering concepts and converting them into accurate technical documentation
• Collaborating with senior engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet technical requirements and project objectives
• Conducting design reviews and modifications based on feedback from engineering teams and stakeholders
• Maintaining comprehensive records of design iterations, revisions and technical specifications
• Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices
• Supporting the development of prototypes and liaising with manufacturing teams during production phases
• Continuously improving design processes and documentation standards

What we're looking for

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Drafting, or a related engineering discipline
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, drawing conventions and technical standards
• Experience in creating detailed mechanical drawings, assemblies and part specifications
• Sound understanding of engineering tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical documentation
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to identifying design improvements
• Preferred: Experience in mechanical design within the manufacturing, product development or related industries
• Preferred: Familiarity with 3D modelling and simulation tools
