ROLE – Mechanical Designer

SALARY - $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Central Victoria

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team in central Victoria on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Designer will ideally have the following attributes:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design or Drafting position
• Previous experience designing heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
• Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
• Experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Strong practical and hands-on approach to design
• Experience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
• Able to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
• Able to maintain technical documentation and BOMs
• Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Mechanical Designer role will involve:

• Using 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Designing components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipment
• Producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
• Updating 3D models and engineering drawings
• Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
• Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers
• Creating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentation
• Supporting the full design process from concept through to production
• Assisting with prototype builds, testing and final assembly
• Checking drawings and designs prior to manufacture
• Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
