Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and technically competent Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Muar, Johor. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development, improvement and implementation of mechanical systems, machinery and equipment for industrial applications. This position is suitable for an engineer who enjoys practical engineering work, problem-solving and working closely with production, fabrication and project teams to turn engineering concepts into reliable and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve mechanical systems, machinery, equipment and components according to project and customer requirements
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, layouts and technical specifications
• Perform engineering calculations and evaluate mechanical designs for functionality, reliability, manufacturability and safety
• Select suitable materials, components, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, structural components and other mechanical elements where applicable
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, specifications and internal requirements
• Participate in engineering projects from conceptual design through fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning
• Provide technical support to fabrication, machining, assembly and production teams
• Investigate mechanical problems encountered during fabrication, assembly, testing or operation and recommend corrective actions
• Analyse equipment failures, mechanical defects and recurring operational problems and conduct root-cause analysis
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, technical reports, calculations, specifications, manuals and project documentation

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognised university
• 1–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, machinery, manufacturing, fabrication, industrial equipment or project engineering is advantageous
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, machine design and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read, interpret and prepare engineering and mechanical drawings
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent is preferred
• Able to perform basic engineering calculations and make sound technical assessments
• Good analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Practical and hands-on approach to engineering problems
• Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Willing to be based in Muar, Johor
